Unlike the Linha do Douro which has seen relatively little development beyond the elimination of steam working, the Minho line has received major capital investment since the days of steam to the extent that some of the locations seen in this photo gallery are barely recognisable today with the electrification to Viana do Costelo and plans in place to extend this on the Spanish border at Valenca, the Braga branch, and more dramatically the conversion of the Guimarães line to an electrified broad gauge route.
