All pictures here cover operations on the Pakistan Western Railway in the years after 1947. A few pictures west of the current border on the Indian North Western Railway in pre-partition days appear in the Indian section. The pictures immediately below on this page cover the 1000 mile long main line from Karachi to Peshawar. Like the rest of the Indian sub-continent, the railways are predominantly broad gauge. Here the narrow gauge lines are covered in separate galleries, the metre gauge at Mirpur Khas and one covering the 2ft 6in gauge lines.
