A Kriegslok that is believed to have been built by Skoda (1621/1944) for use in the USSR; BDZ class 15 2-10-0 number 15.272 stands alongside Sofia station in ex works condition on 7th March 1967, with a class 52 0-8-0 diesel hydraulic, built by Lokomotivbau-Elektrotechnische Werke Hans Beimler, Hennigsdorf, standing alongside. There are two sections in this gallery, one covering the BDZ standard gauge system and the other the BDZ narrow gauge lines, plus a few pictures of Sofia trams.
The Bulgarian State Railways (Balgarski darzhavni zheleznitsi - BDZ) were formed in 1885 and continued as a vertically integrated body until split under EU rules in 2002.
