The 167km long 600mm kauge from Gostivar to Ohrid originally ran from Skopje but the section from there to Gostivar had been converted to standard gauge in the 1950s. A journey south from Gostivar over the whole line took nearly 16 hours. The line closed in 1966 but the section to Kičevo, the half-way point was converted to standard gauge and re-opened in 1969
