The pictures in this section were all taken by the late Richard Chandler (Dick Weisham) in 1984/5. It will be greatly expanded and include the work of other photographers in due course. The pictures displayed here do include a number in Datong Works showing the production line for new QJ class 2-10-2s, the penultimate such line in the world after about 150 years of steam locomotive mass production. The final such line being at Tangshan Works of class SY 2-8-2s that ceased in 1999.

There are a series of pictures taken on Hainan Island in 1985 which depict locomotives built prior to 1949 and the builders details regarding these are assumed from Reg Carter's list and should be treated with caution.
